Configuring Frontpage

Updating your website via Microsoft Frontpage

Note: You can only use Microsoft Frontpage to update your site if you have a '2000' -based hosting account with Webformix, and you've requested that your site have Frontpage support. Using Frontpage is not recommended if you have a secure website. Frontpage support is not available for 'BSD'-based hosting accounts.

  1. Open Microsoft Frontpage
  2. Click the 'File' menu up along the top and click 'Open Web'
  3. Down at the bottom of the 'Open Web' window, for the folder name, type in 'http://www.yourdomain.com/' (e.g., http://www.yourbusinessname.com/)
  4. Click the 'Open' button
  5. You will be prompted to enter your Username and Password. Type in your username and password, then click 'OK'
  6. You should see a screen similar to the one below. Double-click the folder 'www.yourdomain.com'
  7. Double-click the folder 'htdocs'
  8. Double-click the file you wish to update
  9. The file you wish to update will be displayed in Frontpage. Modify the document until you are finished. Click the 'Save' button at the top of Frontpage to save the changes to your website
  10. Visit your website (e.g., http://www.yourdomain.com/) in a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, and verify that every looks correct
Note: in order for your homepage to come up automatically when people visit your domain name on the web, your homepage file must be named index.html
